Badoo: Task force arrests another I33 suspects in Ikorodu, as police declare 20 wanted

By Christopher Oji

As security agencies work to rid Ikorodu, Lagos, of criminals, a joint task force has arrested another 133 suspected Badoo cult members.

Also, the police have declared 20 suspects wanted in connection with series of kidnappings and other criminal activities in Ikorodu.

As part of efforts to arrest the activities of the deadly Badoo gang, a joint task force comprising the Lagos State Police Command, Department of State Services (DSS), Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Corps (LNSC), Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) and other local vigilance groups was constituted. It has Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Edgal Imohimi, RRS Commander, ACP Olatunji Disu, and the LNSC chairman, Israel Ajao, a retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, as leaders.

The recent raid by the task force, which led to the arrest of 133 suspects, saw the team combing black spots and flashpoints at Bayekun, Ikorodu main town, Igbogbo and Majidun. The areas are known hideouts for cultists and Badoo members.
As at press time, the suspects had been moved to the Oshodi headquarters of the Lagos State Task Force for screening.
RRS Commander, Disu, said the raid was on all cult-infested areas.

According to him, “after combing several criminal hideouts in Ikorodu and its suburbs, we arrested many suspects. The suspects are to be screened. Arrests were based on intelligence. The communities were raided because of the activities of Badoo and other cult-related activities in the area.

“The first step is to screen all suspects and that is already being done at the task force office in Oshodi. All those found wanting will be charged to court, while the innocent will be released.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Olarinde Famous-Cole, confirmed the arrests, saying the raid was in continuation of the clampdown on suspected Badoo members.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Task Force has declared 20 persons wanted in connection with series of kidnapping and armed robbery in Ikorodu.
